Broken bones and a broken heart!

Our darling Hilary had a bad fall from our swing set in our backyard on Sunday night. She ended up breaking her little arm in 3 places. She was playing on the slide and lost her balance and feel off near the top of the slide. Scott rushed her to the ER right away to North Florida Hospital. Three hours later they ended up transferring her to Shands via ambulance because North Florida did not Pediatric Orthro on call. It was a terrible night. All told, we spent 12 hours in the ER going in at 6pm Sunday night and not getting released until 6am Monday morning. My sweet friend, Shannon, came over to stay with Lindsey and Danny so I could join Scott and Hilary at the hospital. Hilary broke both the ulna and radius right above her wrist and had her third break right below her elbow. She is on oxycodone/acetaminophen now to help with the pain. She had her first Orthro/Peds appointment this morning. Another set of x-rays were taken and the doctor determined her bones are not fused together enough yet to risk re-casting her. We will have to wait another week to get that hot pink cast she is wanting! Hilary has been such a doll through all this and she is getting a lot of extra attention. Here are a few pictures of Hilary at home. Scott took a few pictures of Hilary at the hospital and I will add those later.

Oh bummer for her! The poor thing. I hope the pain gets better soon and she gets that cool hot pink cast!

I'm sorry to hear about the cast. Is this the first one for your kids?

All your beach pics have made us decide to move to Hawaii! Joe got a job at a hospital in Honolulu. We leave right after New Year's. We are excited, our Iowa families are not so thrilled

Talk soon-
