Grandma Greenwood Visits and Spring Break
Spring break has arrived and we had a lot to look forward to this year. My mom came for a visit for the first half of our spring break and we had an awesome time together. She arrived last Wednesday in Gainesville and got to stay until Tuesday. She got to see Danny play his first soccer game. No goals were made on Danny's part but Grandma Greenwood sure loved cheering him on. First thing Friday morning we headed out of town to spend the weekend in Sarasota, FL. This is one of our favorite vacation destinations. We went to Lido Beach Friday and spent all afternoon wading in the water, building sand castles, and collecting shells. The kids had so much fun at the beach with Grandma. Mom is a master shell hunter and the kids found some great ones to add to their collections. On Saturday we spent the better part of the day at the Mote Aquarium. This is such a neat place and you could easily spend hours there. We saw manatees, sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, about a million different species of fish, and Scott's personal favorite....a preserved giant squid! After that we headed to Marina Jacks so the kids could play at the park, splash at the water park, and walk around the bay. Mom and I even got to see some "flying fish" in the water there which was so cool. That evening we stayed in at the hotel per the kids request and enjoyed the hot tub. Of course, the kids loved staying with Grandma in the hotel and fought over who got to sleep with her each night! On Sunday, we stopped by the awesome outlet mall in Ellenton on our way back to Gainesville. Monday was our last full day with Mom so we wanted to savor every minute. Both girls have birthdays coming up so Mom decided to take them shopping early so she could see them enjoy their gifts. Hilary got a new Barbie with fancy make-up, a Barbie with a sparkly pony, and a fun Zoobles pet. Mom and John went in and got Lindsey a new purple bike. She was ready for the next size up and loves riding it around the block. It was an absolutely blessed time with Mom here and we so enjoyed her visit. We miss you and can't wait to see you soon! xoxoxo
