Please forgive me for the following. I am not trying to be preachy or teachy or in any shape or form pretend I have it all figured out. A week ago, I read this paragraph from a book by Max Lucado. Ever since, I have heard it replay in my head over and over again. I have felt a heavy burden to share this with my friends and family and felt moved to do it in this blog. For those of you who know me well, know I am not a deep thinker so this must be a stirring from God. The words below are from Max Lucado's book "Facing Your Giants" regarding your relationship with your children.
"Quiet heroes dot the landscape of our society. They don't wear ribbons or kiss trophies; they wear spit-up and kiss boo-boos. They don't make the headlines, but they do sew the hemlines and check the outlines and stand on the sidelines. You won't find their names on the Nobel Prize short list, but you will find their names on the homeroom, carpool, and Bible teacher lists. They are parents, both by blood and deed, name and calendar. Heroes. News programs don't call them. But that's okay. Because their kids do....they call them Mom...they call them Dad. And these moms and dads, more valuable than all the executives and lawmakers west of the Mississippi, quiety hold the world together. Be numbered among them. Read books to your kids. Play ball while you can and they want you to. Make it your aim to watch every game they play, read every story they write, hear ever recital in which they perform. Children spell love with four letters: T-I-M-E. Not just quality time, but hang time, downtime, anytime, all the time. Your children are not your hobby; they are your calling." ~Max Lucado
Well, that sounds easy enough! Not!!!! But, it is something to strive for and remember when all of life's demands get in your way...T-I-M-E. Spend time with your little gifts from God and they will feel your love. ~Stephanie

Such an important thing to remember! It's too easy to get caught up in all that we have to get done, but our kids are going to be grown and gone before we know it and those moments will be gone.:( Love the pictures and seeing all the great times you're having with your family! Enjoy the sunshine today, we're bracing for a blizzard! Ha!:)
Such truth! These memories bring such peace and joy in the quiet moments when suddenly you wake from a sound sleep, check on the children, and listen to their peaceful breathing -- ah! all is right with their world and with yours :-) God did inspire you to write this message from Max, and you were obedient to His call. God bless you all. Love, Mom
I loved the quote and have printed it off to share with Tim. We get so busy with what we think is 'important' when it may not be at the time. Thank you for sharing Steph and hope to see you all sometime soon! Love, the Smiths from Arkansas!
